2012 saw a lot of changes. The Jag ran but had a lot of problems with overheating and things leaking. Also, it was hard to start and ran poorly so I spent a lot of time fixing these little things one at a time. The aftermarket pump works fine and fixed a major leak.

I bought a holding tank online and installed it but that did not fix the overheating problem.

The radiator started leaking and I had a radiator repair shop fix the leak.

I spent some time getting the doors ready for paint and all the parts that go inside them.

I'm starting the Jag about every other week and letting it ruin until it gets close to 100 C.

Sometimes it starts OK and other times it takes some effort to get it going.

Back in 2007 I bought a 1959 MGA that was more than a little rough but since I'm the eternal optimist I figured I'd have the Jag done before too long. The MG sat outside for close to five years and I had to constantly spray primer on it since it was beginning to rust.

I've owned a couple of MGA's when I was in school and I wanted another one but you don't see many of them available in Florida so I bought this one just to have it. The problem is now it needed a lot of attention so I slowed down working on the Jag and spent more time on the MG.

About the middle of June my two car garage was getting very full and all of our regular vehicles were parked outside so we decided to build another garage on the side of the house with enough ceiling height to accompany a lift. This would make it a lot easier to work on the project cars and the garage would have enough room for both cars.

The contractor finished up the new garage by the end of 2012 and I was able to move both cars under cover.

I would spend a couple of hours on the Jag during the weekend but not a whole lot of progress was made. I had the wrong radiator cap on the  car and ended up blowing out two freeze out plugs. I turns out that the XKE only used four pounds of pressure on their radiator caps. I one I used had 24 pounds of pressure. Another lesson learned.

A lot of time was spent getting things ready for the new garage.
