All of the body work took way more time than I expected. I spent days trying to get everything smooth and blended in. I spend many more days redoing things that just weren't good enough. After all the effort and the final paint job I found that I should have spent even more time getting it right. I'll have to address these problems after I've had some fun with it.

Paint day was a major step in this effort. I used gray primer from Sherwin Williams and it went on very smoothly. I don't think I had a run in the whole job. This is expensive paint but it did an excellent job. This was only the second time I've tried doing this on my own and I'm happy with the results.

When I bought the car it was not together as a complete car and as I worked on it some things would be installed on a temporary basis, but now that I had the car painted in primer I needed to put it together to make sure everything fit.

It didn't.

So I was back doing repairs on the body. The windshield did not fit into the piece that was supposed to hold it because a previous owner had braised in the nuts to hold the windshield arms. It was obvious that they never tried to install the windshield. The back fender had a piece braised at the bottom but it was too short so I cut it off and installed a longer piece.

When the body work around the grill was complete the grill fit OK, but once I bolted it down I could see that the bottom half of the grill did not fit properly so I had to build the front up so the grill would fit like it was supposed too.

Once I had everything together I put the body back on the frame and bolded everything down so that I was sure it was all going to go together. I wasn't too worried because the body was on the frame when I bought the car. I just wanted to make sure everything fit and it did.

I looked at this being the point where I could put color on the car and put everything back together.
